Play and Learn sessions |
|
Our day revolves around attending to your child’s physical needs and their developmental needs. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework to support their learning through play.

The Curriculum
We pride ourselves in offering a warm , friendly, stimulating and homely environment to equip your child with essential life skills and prepare them for their next big step into school. We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage profile to aid our planning for the six areas of learning;
- Language, Literacy and Communication
- Mathematical
- Personal, Social and Emotional
- Understanding of the World
- Physical
- Creative
We encourage the children to select from a wide range of activities: adult led, free play, directed play, indoor and outdoor.
We have a committed emphasis on outdoor learning, whatever the weather – so bring wellies, warm clothes and sun protection! For an hour of the session we have child-initiated, supervised access to outdoor activities.
|
Parental Involvement
We expect that our parents are keen to develop and build a true partnership with us, where we will all work together to provide the very best for your child.
We keep parents fully informed of our weekly activities through a notice board and we provide a copy of our weekly planning too!
|
Family Events
We hold regular family events where parents are invited to accompany their child for part of the session. This is a fantastic opportunity to experience the activities and absorb the ethos of our group:
Christmas Nativity performance. Come and see your little angel perform Christmas songs, dance and story followed by festive treats for all the family.
Easter egg rolling and egg hunt. A fun morning for all the family on the local field.
Teddy Bears Picnic and mini-sports – bring your favourite teddy, make a picnic and let’s go down to the woods for fun and games! The morning finishes with a mini graduation ceremony for all of the big girls and boys who are moving on to school.

Assessments
We make regular and on-going assessments based on the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile. Plans detail your child’s specific learning objectives and we make regular and on-going written assessments based on your child’s significant achievements. In addition to this, we ask parents to contribute to ‘Learning Profiles’, where we look at your child’s ‘next steps’ for learning. We are dedicated to providing you with accurate and informative progress reports and personal targets to enable you to feel involved and up to date about your child’s achievements.
